BetDash NFL picks – week 12
BetDash NFL tipster Mac takes a look at the week twelve Gridiron action, focusing on four games in particular.
NFL Week 12
Happy Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for? On Thanksgiving, Americans like to say what they give thanks for. This column is thankful for the NFL. Thankful for 15 yard Mark Sanchez passes that spit up dirt as they land 5 yards short of the intended, bewildered receiver. We’re thankful for endless beefcake, topless photos of Tim Tebow running laps in the rain. We’re thankful for the thought of Rex Ryan and Andy Reid sitting down facing each other at a hot dog eating contest (and we’re thankful that Reid would probably win). We’re very thankful for Tom Brady’s shoe ads. We’re also very thankful for the image of Michael Vick finally looking up the word ‘Karma’ in the dictionary. We actually are pretty thankful for RG3, that kid is amazing. We’re thankful for the knowledge Tony Romo is going to do something stupid later tonight. We’re wildly thankful we haven’t got much more of the Chief’s season to suffer through (as they probably are too!). We’re so super-duper thankful for those gaudy Pittsburgh Steelers throwbacks (Emo Tween moment, ‘Eh, spew!’). We’re thankful for Ray Lewis and his incredible talent, and we in no way think that the media fawn all over him every Sunday (typed as Ray sat here beside us with a gun pointed to our head). We’re thankful that the playoffs are coming soon. Most of all, we’re thankful that there’s roughly 9 hours of NFL on tonight, and, you can bet on it!
Clever things we said last week
‘’ What do you do with a hot streak? You ride it!’’
‘’ The Saints are on a roll and a mission.’’
Not so clever things we said last week
‘’…. which hints that they should be able to handle the pathetic Jets no problem’’
You can have your fancy moon landing. You can have the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes and the Lighthouse of Alexandria. This column finally made it back to 50% ATS (against the spread) on the season, after a start so slow it made Tom Brady look fast. Finally! Now, starting tonight, a full on late season assault on our target of 60% ATS! Good luck to all, and enjoy the games.

Four picks to boost your bankroll
The Game: Baltimore Ravens At San Diego Chargers
Current line: San Diego Chargers -1
The Science: In their last 8 games the Chargers have lost 6 and beaten the Chief’s twice. Meanwhile, Baltimore are on a nifty 3 game win streak against actual, quality NFL teams not called the Chiefs. Watch this line change before Sunday. Eventually everyone is going to realise, ‘Oh wait, San Diego are awful!’.
The Pick: Baltimore +1
The Game: Houston Texans At Detroit Lions
Current line: Houston -3.5
The Science: It’s Thanksgiving, the Detroit crowd are going to be more into this than usual, and for Detroit, this game represents their very last chance to be a part of playoff football this season. It is a must have game for them, and Houston have showed signs of slowing lately (namely, almost losing to the Jags).
The Pick: Detroit +3.5
The Game: New England Patriots At New York Jets
Current line: New England -7
The Science: That was a very decent defence the Patriots hung 59 points on last weekend in the Colts. Sure, Gronk is out. However, the Patriots find a new offensive hero every week, from their stable of midget curcus act receivers and running backs. Edelman, Ridley, Welker, Woodhead and even Vereen are all very much capable of appears in your news feeds tomorrow morning, ‘’[Insert name here] broke career records for catches and yards and caught two touchdowns in the process’’. Meanwhile the Jets, let’s just suggest Mark Sanchez is due a market adjustment after not being absolutely awful last week. Ask yourself, what’s the more likely situation. The Jets defence suddenly getting healthy and finding its form from a couple of years ago, and Mark Sanchez channelling his inner Joe Namath, or the Patriots running riot over an over-matched, admittedly injury riddled Jets? Yeah, I know, I agree! The latter, easily.
The Pick: New England -7
The Game: Washington Redskins At Dallas Cowboys
Current line: Dallas Cowboys -3.5
The Science: Have you seen RG3 (‘Skins QB Robert Griffin the third) play yet? If not, you are in for a tasty treat tonight. The kid is special. He has a cannon of an arm, and the running ability of Donovan McNabb in his prime. Have you seen Tony Romo play? Yeah, I know, seriously! One thing is sure, this one should be a shoot-out. The Cowboys might eke it out, sure, but do you really trust Romo against that 3.5? That 0.5 could be key.
The Pick: Washington +3.5
The rest.
Definitely. Probably. Maybe.
Pittsburgh Steelers -1 At Cleveland Browns
Seattle Seahawks -3 At Miami Dolphins
Atlanta Falcons -1 At Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tennessee Titans -3 At Jacksonville Jaguars
Denver Broncos -10 At Kansas City Chiefs
Buffalo Bills At Indianapolis Colts -3
Oakland Raiders +8 At Cincinnati Bengals
San Francisco 49ers At New Orleans Saints +1
St. Louis Rams At Arizona Cardinals -2.5
Green Bay Packers +2.5 At New York Giants
Carolina Panthers -2 At Philadelphia Eagles
